Spring Dance Concert Brings Season to Spectacular Close

Students wear sparkly gold vests and wave white top hats during “Musical Medley,” one of several numbers performed at the annual spring dance concert in May. The concert showcases vibrant work by students in modern, ballet and jazz classes, choreographed by  instructors Kaela Lee, Jimena Bermejo and Audra Carabetta. “Musical Medley” was performed by Carabetta’s Jazz 3-4 class.

 

’Tis the Season for Planting

Spring Shows Its Colors Outside of Williams Hall

The trees have bloomed outside of Williams Hall. Completed in 2003, Williams Hall is a five-story, 85,000-square foot building. The apartments accommodate 244 seniors in 61 apartments that consist of a living room, dining area, full kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms.

Spring Concert Headliner Jessie J Sells Out Hart Center

A sold out crowd packed the Holy Cross Hart Recreation Center for the annual Spring Concert. Pop star Jessie J headlined the concert, performing hits from her most recent album “Sweet Talker.”

During her performance, Jessie J entertained the crowd in a sheer glitter Holy Cross shirt. After the show, Jessie J took to Twitter and Instagram to interact with fans and post a photo from the Holy Cross stage.

Students Celebrate Spring Weekend

From a pig roast to a performance by LA Rapper/R&B Singer Luke Christopher, from the Easy Street Fair to a carnival, students reveled in the spring weather as part of Spring Weekend.

A favorite for many was the HOLI Color Festival, sponsored by Developing and Educating South-Asian Ideologies (DESI), a student multicultural organization. Also known as the festival of colors, Holi is a celebration of spring in which participants wear white T-shirts and throw dry colored powder. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil and the arrival of spring. Spring weekend closed with fireworks and a performance by Jessie J at the spring concert.

Pansies Await Spring’s Warm Weather

William J. St. Germain, laborer for the Holy Cross Grounds Department, checks on pansies growing in the on-campus greenhouse. Over the course of each growing season around 15,000 plants are grown in the greenhouse. Currently about 5,550 pansies await spring’s warmer weather.
