The “Become More” Gala, which featured this entrée of sage-brined, herb-encrusted chicken and skillet colossal shrimp, earned Holy Cross Dining the Grand Prize in the category of catering/special events from the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) in the annual Loyola E. Horton Dining Awards.

The gala, which saw the exterior and interior of Kimball Hall transformed, served as a kickoff event for the most ambitious, comprehensive fundraising campaign in the history of the College, with the goal of raising $400 million by June 30, 2020.

The ambitious event, now being celebrated by the NACUFS, was a collaboration between Holy Cross Dining, the College’s Office of Advancement, and Educe, LLC.

Talented high school and college aged violinists, violists, cellists and pianists from the Chamber Music Institute at Holy Cross fill Tower Hill Botanic Garden with their music on a summer afternoon. The concert, in Boylston, Mass., was one of two performed by the participants of the intensive immersion program focused on the art of chamber music, as well as individual musical development.

Site managers hold up signs with their site names in front of hundreds of volunteers gathered behind Worcester’s City Hall at Working for Worcester’s kick off rally. Working for Worcester, in its fifth year of operation, has raised more than $500,000 in capital, invested more than $1 million in the city in resources and services, mobilized more than 5,000 volunteers and renovated more than 100 sites across the city.

Jeans hang in the middle of the Hogan Oval to commemorate “Denim Day,” a nationally celebrated event that serves as a symbol of protest against sexual violence during Sexual Violence Awareness Month. Members of the Holy Cross community wore jeans across campus in solidarity and donated up to $5 to be given to Aids Project Worcester, a nonprofit organization in Worcester. The event was organized by the Sexual Assault, Facts, Education and Response (SAFER) committee on campus.

Crowned the winner of the fifth annual Shark Tank competition, Paul Wiley ’20 holds a check for $12,000 won with the pitch for his company PW Industries, which specializes in custom handcrafted executive products and jewelry for the promotional product industry.

In addition to the monetary prize given to the winner of the competition, sponsored by the Ciocca Office of Entrepreneurial Studies and the Prebusiness Program, Wiley will also be paired with an alumni mentor and given year-long memberships to Worcester Clean Tech Incubator, Venture Forum and Worcester Chamber of Commerce.

Sean Teebagy ’17, shows off why he loves Holy Cross during the ‘I LOVE HC’ fundraising challenge on Feb. 14. The 24-hour challenge engaged 6,111 donors who contributed a total of $1,848,787, shattering the previous donor record set at a liberal arts college. Some of the most impressive statistics of the day include: 61 percent of all donations came from the classes of the 1990s through the 2010s; 49.4 percent of seniors made donations, making the Class of 2017 the top-giving class; and 100 percent of senior-athletes participated in the challenge. The second annual book read aimed to bringing community members together to engage with Dr. King’s legacy on an intellectual level and to explore how it still resonates today.
