Holy Cross President Helps First-Year Students Move into Residence Halls

Holy Cross Community Welcomes First-Year ALANA and International Students to Campus

Faculty, administrators and alumni welcomed participants of Odyssey 2015 and their families at the opening dinner in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom. This year marks the 15th anniversary of the program. Odyssey is a one-week program open on a voluntary basis to all first-year ALANA (African-American, Latin American, Asian-American, and Native American) and international students. During the week, the 61 participants took part in workshops, field trips, discussions, and volunteer and social programs. Since the program’s inception, 776 first-year students have participated in Odyssey.

Class of 2009 Valedictorian Returns to Take In ‘Hogwarts at Holy Cross’ Event

McFarland, S.J., president, during “Hogwarts at Holy Cross: Snape’s Dungeon.” The event is sponsored by the Science Ambassadors, a group of more than 60 Holy Cross students who work with local children to develop an interest in the sciences. Morse, who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in biology at Yale University, was a co-chair of the Science Ambassadors during her junior and senior years at Holy Cross.

President Emeritus Honored at Jesuit Gala

Brooks received the Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam Award from the New England Province of Jesuits at the event.

History Class Marks Civil War Anniversary

History professor Rev. Anthony Kuzniewski, S.J., marked the 150th anniversary of the firing on Fort Sumter and the start of the Civil War in his course, Lincoln and His Legacy. Above, Abraham Lincoln and Fr. Kuzniewski shake hands.

The Holy Cross community is all smiles for World Smile Day. Charlie Ball, son of Harvey Ball, a Worcester native who invented the smiley face, presents Rev. Michael C. McFarland, president of Holy Cross, with a “You’ve Been Smiled!” certificate.
