Students Raise $23,860 for AIDS Research in Dance Marathon

Students participating in a 12-hour dance marathon from 9 p.m. Jan. 28 to 9 a.m. Jan. 29 in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom raised $23,860.08 for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. The number, which is expected to grow since donations are still coming in, exceeded organizers’ expectations. Participants were required to raise a minimum of $100, with the goal for the marathon set at $10,000. “We had a total of 138 dancers staying the full 12 hours of the dance marathon plus another 60 or so entering and exiting throughout the night,” says Caroline Cataldo ’12, one of the event organizers.

Gamelan Gita Sari Performance Serves Up Thrilling Evening of Balinese Music and Dance

The Holy Cross departments of theatre and music present their famed Balinese gamelan orchestra, Gamelan Gita Sari, under the directorship of visiting fellow in Balinese performing arts, Ni Suasthi Bandem, in concert at Brooks Concert Hall.

Holy Cross Commemorates 10th Anniversary of 9/11

The Chaplains’ Office held an interfaith vigil to mark the 10-year anniversary of Sept. 11 in Memorial Plaza, which is dedicated to the members of the Holy Cross community and beyond who were victims of the tragedy. View coverage and more photos from the interfaith vigil.


A bronze plaque at Memorial Plaza bears the names of the seven alumni who were killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11: Edward A. Brennan III ’86, Thomas D. Burke ’85, Neilie A. Heffernan Casey ’90, John G. Farrell ’91, Todd A. Isaac ’94, Beth A. Quigley ’97 and John J. Ryan ’78.

Chamber Orchestra Performs as Part of Academic Conference

The Holy Cross Chamber Orchestra played all six of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerti in Brooks Concert Hall as part of this year’s Academic Conference. The performance featured Megan Ross ’11 (flute solo), Kevin Hoenig ’12 (violin solo), Claire Gorman ’13 (flute solo) and Brendan Prast ’14 (viola solo).

Memorial Service Honors Visual Arts Professor

The College Choir performs in the Brooks Concert Hall during a memorial concert and celebration for Joanna E. (Jody) Ziegler, a longtime faculty member in the visual arts department who passed away last November.  Prior to the event, a meet and greet was held in the Cantor Art Gallery. A reception followed in the Hogan Campus Center Ballroom.

Outdoor Music Festival
